Staying Safe While Banking Digitally
The convenience and personalized nature of digital banking can make it easy to forget about security. At Euro Exim Bank, however, we take cyber security very seriously and ensure that our systems comply with the highest global industry standards.
Still, there are some precautions that you can and should take at your end to ensure your own safety:
Always Use Trusted Apps – Make sure to download our Smart Banking App, or any Euro Exim Bank app that may become available, from a trusted source such as the Google Playstore or Apple App Store. Even when using a trusted source you should ensure that the app is from the genuine publisher, in this case “Euro Exim Bank”. Third party apps and app stores can be incredibly dangerous and leave your device open to vulnerabilities so avoid using them at all costs.
Only Access Directly – When accessing our services through a web browser you should always directly type the URL into your web browser or use a bookmark you, yourself have created. Don’t ever use links or shortcuts of any kind, especially those you may receive by email or text message, even if they appear to be genuine. You should also check to make sure that your web connection to us is secure; you can do this by checking for ‘https’ at the beginning of the URL. Avoid using public computers/devices and if using a computer/device that’s not your own, always access your online banking in a private or incognito window.
Never Give Out Personal Information Unless You Directly Contact Us – Euro Exim Bank or any of its representatives will never contact you by telephone, email, SMS or through any other channel and ask you to disclose personal information for any reason; in particular your account numbers, user names, passwords, card/cvv numbers, one-time passwords or any other such information.
No matter how genuine it may seem, never give out your information to a 3rd party. Should you ever receive such a communication please report it to us via email at firstname.lastname@example.org or call us on +44 203 011 0133 (UK).
Note however, that if you contact us it is standard procedure for us to ask a few questions to verify your identity. Therefore, always ensure to use our correct contact information that may be found on our website and never use contact information provided to you by a 3rd party without verifying that it is genuine.
Secure Your Devices – Ensure mobile devices are locked and that all devices receive the latest updates and are frequently scanned for viruses/malware. Ensure your firewalls are also enabled and don’t do banking or any sensitive activity on unsecured/public Wi-Fi networks.
Change Passwords Often – While it can be annoying, changing your banking and other passwords often and using the longest most random passwords you can, which include upper and lower case letters, numbers and symbols, is one of the best ways to ensure your security online.
Regularly Review Your Activity – For added security ensure that you check the last login dates and times each time you login and make sure these are familiar. Also, review your statements regularly to ensure that no suspicious or unauthorized transactions have been made on your account. Better yet, opt in for automatic notifications such as email notifications so that you’ll always know the minute anyone logs into your online banking account.
Authenticate Only Once – After initial set up, our online and mobile banking services will require you to authenticate only once each time you login, unless your session times out in which case you’ll have to start from the beginning.
Don’t fall prey to any popups or other notifications that may ask you to log in again or “confirm/update” your login details no matter how genuine they may appear. If you receive such a message your device could be infected with malware.
With online security, thinking and reading carefully before you click is the first and best line of defense. Almost all malicious activity requires your cooperation and with banking you should be extra careful and stop what you’re doing immediately if you have even the slightest doubt. You can also help us and others by reporting anything suspicious right away.
Always remember to stay safe while enjoying the convenience of online and mobile banking services brought to you by Euro Exim Bank.
